Newsletter January 2025

Namaste.

Well, we had a snowy start to January didn’t we with the weather Gods all wanting us to have another weeks holiday! Who are we to argue! Classes finally returned on 13th January and have been flowing along lovely since.

Our current evening Yoga class theme is ‘Dreaming in your magic.’ Here’s a little bit about the practice and the inspiration behind it…

I love a ‘theme’ for the Yoga that I offer and it’s almost always inspired by Nature, the cycles and seasons.
In our evening Yoga classes we practice the same ‘theme’ for around 6 weeks, giving ourselves time to really understand and feel each asana (posture), pranayama (breath extension practice) and Mudra (sacred gesture). By visiting the same routine over a length of time we see progression and begin to remember parts of the flow so we can feel confident to roll out our mats on our own should we wish.
Our current ‘theme’ is called ‘Dreaming in Your Magic’💫💫💫 and there are threads that weave through this. Threads of:

Grounding - we need to feel safe, secure and grounded when we are considering our intentions for the year ahead. We can’t dream in our fullest and best dreams if we feel unsafe in the body.

Hip openers - the creative centre of the body lives in the pelvic bowl. Our chakra of creativity, birth, joy and pleasure lives here. Work around the hips will free this centre of creativity, encouraging us to think outside the box as we prepare to birth our dreams into reality.

Twists - we have been shedding all we no longer need since the Autumn Equinox. Letting go, clearing the way for new growth. The cycle of life reminds us of this birth, life, death, rebirth and so on. Something has to die in order to make space for new beginnings. Twists support us with the clearing out, detoxing the body, making space for the new.

Heart openers - postures that open the heart and release the shoulders weave there way through this practice. Let’s listen to the calling of our hearts as we prepare for the year ahead. Let’s step into it with an open heart where love can pour feeling from!

If you would like to come and experience this for yourself, come join us today 6.15pm at Werrington Village Hall. Beginners to the well practiced welcome. No need to pre book. Come along any week and enjoy 🧘🏼‍♀️🧘🏽‍♂️🧘🏼‍♂️🧘🏻🧘🏻‍♀️

For those who would like something a little bit different from the weekly Yoga classes, we have our new ‘Following the Flow’ series coming up.

‘Following the Flow.’

My new year long offering that aims to bring you into deeper connection with the changing seasons. We will meet 8 times through the year, in alignment with the ancient Earth festivals of this land, and spend time together learning about the energies of that particular time of the year, how we can clear, cleanse and realign ourselves and nourish our bodies through the practice of Yoga and Meditations that are inspired by Nature.

You are welcome to join us for the entire 8 sessions or dip in and out through the year.
You can find out more on Following the Flow here:

As it would be lovely to have you with us for the entire year long journey of this, I’m offering a special discount to anyone who books the full 8 sessions in advance as a way to say thank you for your dedication to this.

Maybe you love Yoga and movement and want to explore how this can flow with the different seasons.
Maybe you are drawn to leading a more Earth based life and wonder how this can look and work in the modern World.
Maybe you have heard of the Earth celebrations and wish to deepen your understanding of them.

Now is a great time to step into this and see where the year leads you. Details of all the dates for the year are shown below and on the link above. We meet on Friday evenings 7-9pm in Ipstones Memorial Hall and the exchange is £16.50 per session or £112 for the year (this year long exchange of £112 is available up to our first session on 31st January only).

A lovely cohort of people are beginning to gathering for this. If you would like to be a part of this adventure please let me know.

For all the families out there we have our next Earth School Staffordshire Moorlandssession coming up on Sunday 2nd February at Bradnop Village Hall. Our wisdom keeper for this session is Laura Heath of Change from the Heart.
Laura is a master trainer in EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) also known as ‘tapping’ as we tap on certain energy points on the body to work through emotions of all kinds.

I’ve personally used EFT for several years on a very basic level and went along to one of Laura’s workshops a year or so ago to learn more. It was brill and gave me the confidence to try EFT with my boys and it’s been fab especially helping them to unwind, calm busy minds and sleep!
