How are you fairing through this lunar eclipse?
Eclipses are well known for bringing the ‘shadow’ into view. Those parts of ourselves that we would rather not look at or face! So if you’ve been feeling extra sensitive, tender, vulnerable or been experiencing challenge of some kind, don’t turn away from it. It’s here to be cleared and healed. Easier said than done hey! It takes strength and trust to fully acknowledge our fears but when we do transformation and transmutation is our reward.
There’s a quote by Joseph Campbell that I think of every eclipse season:
“The cave you fear to enter holds the treasure that you seek.”
In Thursday’s evening Yoga class I spoke of resourcing ourselves over the eclipse period as it’s not just a ‘one day’ event. Eclipses come in pairs. We have a lunar eclipse then two weeks later a solar eclipse and we have these twice a year - in the Spring and in the Autumn. The energies of the eclipse can be felt either side of the actual event too, which means this extra focus on shadow work can span a month or so around each eclipse.
In the Vedic sciences (that which Yoga is rooted in), we believe that the eclipse portal is a time to lie low. It is advised not to go outside whilst the eclipse is happening, to meditate, up our self care, not take any risks or make any big decisions. It is a time to go slow, simplify, eat foods grown by the light and foods that ground us. To resource ourselves with practices that help us feel calm, whatever they may be for you. Spending time in Nature, spending time with loved ones, crafting, singing, cooking, dancing, Yoga! Things that make us feel nourished and bring a sense of calm safety.
If Yoga is one of the things that brings you a sense of calm safety, then come and join us for our practice on Monday at 6.30pm at Werrington Village Hall. It’s lots easier to navigate difficult times together!
I have a few dates for your diary with holidays and bank holidays on there way….
- There’s no class this Thursday 20th March at Werrington as I have tickets to take my boys to see Gordon Buchanan - a Wildlife cameraman.
- There will be no class on Monday 14th April, Tuesday 15th April or Thursday 17th April as I’m off to explore Italy.
- There’s no classes on any of the bank holiday Mondays, the first of these being Monday 21st April.
I’ll put reminders on my social media pages closer to each date. If you know someone who comes along to class please can you check with them that they’ve seen these updates. Many thanks for your support.
A big thank you to everyone who has shown interest in our October Yoga retreat to the Peak District National Park. We have two spaces left! The details can be found below if you feel this is something you may benefit from coming along to.
In other news, I have a new class on the horizon. A day time class which I’ve not offered for many, many years! Is this something you’d be interested in? If so, please do let me know times and days that would be good for you and we will see what happens.
